Dive into my world as an IT admin, where I effortlessly juggle tech challenges, culinary delights, and snowboarding escapades. Discover the secrets that keep me going, the passions that light my fire, and the life lessons I've gathered on this journey. Ever curious about what fuels the heart and mind of someone like me in the IT realm? Here's a sneak peek into my work-life balance.

Working at DOT

As an IT whiz, my typical day revolves around identifying and resolving tech challenges. My role demands strong communication with users and fellow team members. I proudly oversee a variety of operating systems, ensuring each one is fortified with top-notch access control and security measures. Now, when you add my knack for system administration, networking, and security, plus my scripting prowess in Bash and Python, and automation expertise with tools like Terraform, you see a holistic approach to enhancing system performance.

What ignites my passion every day? I'd say it’s the dynamic rhythm of the IT domain. There's never a dull moment! One day, I'm deep-diving into a challenging laptop performance snag, and the next, I'm amplifying security policies. This variety, combined with the beauty of team collaboration, drives me. There's a unique gratification in watching diverse talents unite to conquer challenges.

My educational background is a blend of tech and art, with a diploma in Applied Computer Science and Pedagogy from the University of Latvia and a stint in Photography studies at the Dublin Institute of Technology. My love for technology and an eagerness to integrate the latest innovations drove me here. But that's not all! My extensive tech support experience in giant corporate enterprises such as Hewlett Packard ensures we're only embracing best practices.

Clocking out

When I'm not wrestling with IT challenges, my idea of a perfect weekend is one that’s meticulously planned, shared with family, and ideally involves a snowboard or MTB. Speaking of personal tidbits, here's a fun fact: my plan for the summer of 2005 was a short stint in Ireland, followed by Erasmus studies in Hamburg. But life took a techy turn when I joined Hewlett Packard's tech support team. Also, if there's one thing I absolutely enjoy outside of work, it's indulging in good food – both relishing and whipping it up when I get a moment.

Reminder of the day

For those stepping into new roles, especially in the dynamic world of IT, remember: it's a realm of continuous learning. So, if technology makes your heart race, you're in for an exhilarating ride. This year, I was fortunate to take a break between jobs, which reinforced the idea that sometimes, pausing and refocusing is integral for growth. My best bud often says I'm always “Searching for challenges,” and they couldn't be more right! So, as you embark on your tech journey, embrace challenges, stay passionate, and never stop learning.
